Back in the diza
Looking through an old yearbook made me realize a.) how old I'm getting and b.) that I kind of miss some of it. Here's a couple of things that were great:
- Bush parties! The locations always changed but some things remained constant like the crowned savior who brought the pallets, the crazy drunk person who ran through the fire, the mingling of all crowds, the blasting of music and the fury of everyone trying to leave when the cops showed up.
- Having twenty + close friends and five best friends, I don't think I will ever be that close to that many people again.
- Quarters!!!!; enough said, damn that game was/is fun.
- Lucky the cat; one of the coolest cats ever. Speaking of lucky, lucky lager used to taste better back then. Maybe it was before I knew better beer.
- Playing on the basketball team. Who knew you could have so much fun in places like Valleyview and Fairview?!
- Renita's top ten list, maybe they came after high school but they were great, bring them back renita! Another thing I miss were Renita's house parties, the details of those parties are not to be discussed online!
- Glenmary, the best school ever. Our teachers were actually our friends and gave two shits about the students. I guess being just a number to most of my profs at the uni made me appreciate them even more.
- The diversity of learning in high school. Since graduation I have only learned about things that are specific to my career. This is what I am most interested in but I miss knowing and learning math, physics, chem, english etc. Not using that knowledge for 7 years, I've lost it.
- Having evenings and weekends off....the years of shift work are already getting to me!
Don't get me wrong I love my life now and am too young to reminisce about the good old days. All I'm saying is cant we bring some of the great things from high school to the present day? I'm sure there's got to be a place to have a bush party in calgary! haha, yeah right. Nah, those days are gone and I am sure its for the best.
